long time ago though. I blame Bush...the older one that is...for the first one. I was a young dude - 17 - when I ate a steak in my first few hours on American soil. I ate a steak the size of wagon wheel somewhere between LA and Santa Barbara. It was at least three times as big as the ones they serve in Europe...I made a bet with my older cousin that I could handle it. Big mistake..I finished the monster but it bothered me for two days. Hard stomach, really nasty taste in my mouth...I'll spare you the other details.
The only other time was when I ended up in some hipster steakhouse in Amsterdam with a few mates....high as a kite, each of us ordered a second T-bone steak because they tasted so fine...reality is I spent way to much money on the munchies...I felt terrible afterwards, but it's more than likely the booze and weed did at least some of the damage.
These days I still eat meat on occasion, but I consume it way less than I used to. I don't skip the steaks each time I'm in a restaurant, but I the stuff I eat at home has a 'green' stamp, meaning it wasn't produced with antibiotics and genetic manipulation and the beasts that died for me had a comfy life in the sun. Not only does it taste better, it's a lot healthier too. As a tree hugger I'm not always comfy with the fact that I eat meat at all. But I tried going all vegetarian once.....it lasted less than a week.
