So you ended up going over Monarch Pass, which is one of the highest roads in the state (and US). Yes, some great views going that way, yet some don't care for it with its 2000+ foot drop offs just a foot off of the road in some places. Damn, I could tell ya two different stories about that road in icy weather which me and mine have been through, but it would take up too much time to write out.....
