Home Again (NSC)

Hello everyone. The “On the Road Again” thread is pretty far down so I am opening starting a new thread so it will not get lost. Sorry to anyone who feels I am posting too much about my trip. But since I started it I might as well finish it.

This trip was a pivotal trip for me because before I left I decided that it was the beginning of a new phase in my life. I am in the process of changing so a road trip is appropriate I think. There is nothing better to clear ones head than a change of scenery it seems to me.

It was a wild trip. My father showed his hind end the entire time I was there. It was not pleasant. We are blaming it on his stroke from a year back, dementia and all that, but he is a mean man despite whatever excuses we make. I got to get to know my 19 year old half-sister a lot better while I was there which was an unexpected pleasure. I got to see the movie twice but I am satisfied because the second viewing left me with good feelings about the film. I got lost in the mountains twice but I got to see some beautiful scenery up close and personal so I am glad I got lost. I left Keno’s at 5:30am and did not get to Denver until 1:00pm. It was a trip that should have taken only four hours.

I did get to meet keno as he noted below. We had a great time smoking and talking. Keno and I did not have to listen to the Stones to be Stonesfans together. The over arching umbrella which Stonesfans come under is being a rock and roller. We both love rock and roll so much that every song that came over Sirius was pure pleasure. They even played “Cinnamon Girl” which I had not heard in years. So we listened to whatever the radio provided and dug about every song. Keno has some cool Stones memorabilia I enjoyed seeing. His town is fantastic and his place is no less so. The mountain view he has is wonderful. He shared his love for the mountains and a little of it wore off on me. I enjoyed being lost in the mountains on my way back from Denver (I missed 285 and ended up going 27 miles west on 50 towards Gunnison).

I can say, as you are all aware, Keno is a great guy. I have no reason to be a brown noser, Keno accepts me for who I am already, I am sure. He is a loyal friend. The love with which he speaks of his friends is heart warming. I have to respect someone who is so loyal to his friends. I feel like I know some of them myself. I want to respect his privacy so that is about all I will write. We had a good conversation and worked on LIL. The opening page is much better now. We got rid of all the “oral history” explanations because LIL is turning out to be a “best of Gasland” rather than the oral history I had imagined. It was great to see Gasland’s command and control center. We got good and stoned and acted a bit goofy. He is a great cook. He whipped up a pizza in no time which was very good.

Meeting Keno caused me to stop and rethink a few things. Keno describes himself as a hippie and I do not describe myself that way. But Keno reminded me of some hippie values that we share. We spoke of religion and politics and at first we seemed to disagree but the more we talked the more we had in common. I am going to have to adapt some of my hippie feelings into my lifestyle. I have always considered myself a little too dark to be a hippie. I am not filled with the peace and love spirit. I am filled with the cocaine and reefer spirit. But the coke days are over and smoking is a different scene than it used to be. I can use a little “light” in my life and Keno reminded me to look for it.

I had a hard time getting back. My shuttle at the airport left me behind and I had to rent a car to get home. Once I got here there were a ton of things for me to do so it is only now I have time to post.

I have met Keefer, TM, and Keno now. I hope to meet many more of you. Silly perhaps, maybe. I am not one to try to mix the online and real worlds much but meeting fellow Stonesfans is such a great experience I hope to keep doing it. I have MMR and RJ on my list to meet next when I take my trip east later this year. I have to share another round of Rebel Yell with TM too.

To sum it up, my trip went great and I am home again with a light heart and satisfied feeling of having accomplished something. Thanks for sharing it with me.
