If they do a covers album, dig up some old blues numbers.... like deep in the Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broozy catalogs. And if they do it, get the fuck out of EMI-Pathe' in Paris. Go to an old studio or an old building and record it in there - something unique and different. And leave Bernard and crew back home.. don't need em!
If you wanna get creative (forgive me for being stupid here and thinking outside the Promotone box here), since it's blues numbers, Bill should be on board for that - get him on bass. I know they don't wanna record in the UK for tax crap so that means getting Bill to leave the motherland for a little while - just make it happen. And if you need another guitar, call Taylor up. All the Stones alive, past and present, on one record. It's getting too late in life to still hold grudges and just be looking after more dollars; how much is enough???? Make a record that is true to what you believe - not in the 'hope' of another hit single cuz it ain't ever gonna happen again.
