For week 449 of our Stones poll, the question is: Which Stones song that has some falsetto in it, uses that singing style the best? This is another one of those questions that was suggested a very long time ago, and that I never got to till now.
While putting the song list for this poll together, I was surprised how few Stones songs there are that have falsetto in it. In fact to get more songs listed, I listed a few that only briefly have some falsetto sang, including “Dead Doctor”, which really is Mick mimicking a female’s voice, and not him singing in falsetto. Anyway, I do like the way Mick sings falsetto, but I know some do not, so there is even a choice for those of you who don’t like men singing in this matter that you can vote for.

In last week’s Stones Poll we asked: In which year do you think the next Stones tour will take place? I used this question for the poll and then the very next day I learned from somebody deep inside the Stones camp that a tour would happen next year. When I reported this news last Monday, I should had noted in that post, that when I was told about this new tour - the person who told me knew nothing about this question being asked, in fact he brought the news up, not me, and I wasn’t excepting that news at all. But anyway, most seem to think a tour will take place next year anyway, as “2009” was picked with 42.5% of the vote. Interesting that 16.3% chose “The Stones will never tour again.”. I say that since when we last asked this question back in 1999, only 0.4% less felt that way, and heck, with the Stones almost 10 years older and in their mid 60s, you think maybe a few more now would feel this way. But no, Stones fans know their Boys well enough, the Glimmers will never retire, not unless a major health issue gets in their way, and even then I would bet they would never hold a farewell tour; they would just stop playing without telling anybody.
Well, well, well, I see that this week we reach week number 100 of our Classic Rock poll, and the question is: From the songs listed in our poll, which one is the gloomiest? Perhaps for week 100 a more up beat question could have been asked, but when I worked on this question’s choices 2 weeks ago, I didn’t know then which week it would actually be asked, and this weekend I didn’t have time to come up with any other question, so this question will have to do for this week, I guess.
In this poll, I tried to only list songs of gloom, and I was not really looking for any sad songs, since there is a difference between the two. Even if all gloomy songs are also sad, not all sad songs are gloomy. After I made up the list, I realized this poll might be hard to answer for a few of you, since there are several songs that show up in the list that I know I could equally vote for.

In last week’s Classic Rock Poll, we asked: Who played the best guitar riffs in Classic Rock? Okay, I think we all know who won this poll, yes, Mr Riffhard, with 29.2% of the vote. Jimi Hendrix came in second and Jimmy Page third.
You can check out the full, final results from last week’s two polls over at each polls’ archive pages. Thanks to all of you who take the time to vote in both polls each week!
