That is an excellent, thought-provoking post, Undercover. Thank you for taking the time to write it.
I fully agree with your points about the Stones as the rebellious archetypes and the Stones as a community. For the rebellion part, you only need look at how they were persecuted by the authorities back in the 60s. As for the community part, well, this board is all the proof I need.
Point #3, every Stones song is a perfect song: a very interesting concept, which I hadn't thought of before. I guess we would need to define the word "perfect". Everyone mentions Back to Zero, a song I do not remember hearing. My personal pet peeve is Sing This All Together, See What Happens. I simply cannot compare this to, let's say, Ruby Tuesday and say that they are both perfect. Not if perfect is taken to mean (as my Webster's dictionary says): "being entirely without fault or defect: flawless". To me, Ruby Tuesday comes as close as possible to that definition, while Sing This All Together, See What Happens falls way off the mark.
Point #4: the best Stones are the Stones you are listening to. Again, a very intersting concept which I had never thought of previously. I suppose that if you are focusing entirely on the song to the exclusion of everything else, it is entirely possible. On the other hand, you can easily listen to, and enjoy, song A while thinking "this is good, but song B is even better". So I think that the concept can work in absolute terms, but not in relative terms. (Am I making sense? I went to bed late last night and woke up early, and I fully admit to feeling a little foggy.)
