My idea is at this time Mick was into magic, horoscopes and so the idea of this song is Mick (and also Keith) was born in the year of the monkey due to the Chinese horoscope. But yeah, he plays with that and calls himself a monkey but it's with obvious wink. Like pulling our leg. For me all this song is making fun of establishment criticizing Stones. It's like "Bla, bla, bla, it's all words, say about us what you wish we don't give a damn. In fact we sort of like it".

Great number. It was called the best of Stones unknown songs.
