I don't remember OZ ever being particularly negative about the Stones. I thought it was an interesting idea for a topic, actually. I think a lot of people say things like, "ABB shouldn't be judged against their older albums" and they aren't thinking that in 20 years, that's exactly what people will be doing, and ABB will rightfully be dismissed as sub par. But the legacy of the Stones won't suffer too much as their best stuff is as good as anyone in the world has ever done, and quite often noticeably better.
It's a good topic, and the kind of thing that's certainly more interesting than a lot of things we talk about here, but you have to look at it from less of a fan's eye view and a little more pragmatically.
That being said, OZ - what the fuck are you doing in Istanbul?
Depeche Mode being big in Europe doesn't mean too much to me. Gary Glitter was huge. Cliff Richard was an icon. I have pretty much no use for either of them. Then again, being an American, I tend to believe the world revolves around me!
