Caņon City is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Fremont County, Colorado. The city population was 17,141 at the 2020 U.S. Census. It sits primarily on the north side of the Arkansas River and the famous Royal Gorge Bridge is nearby. 8 miles (13 km) west of town used to be the Western-style theme park called "Buckskin Joe", where 21 different movies were made including Cat Ballou, True Grit, The Cowboys, and Silverado.
