The Town of Buena Vista is located in the Upper Arkansas River Valley in Chaffee County, Colorado. The town population was 2,855 at the 2020 U.S. Census and it's elevation is 7,965 ft (2,428 m). The name "Buena Vista", is Spanish for "Beautiful View", and it can often be heard pronounced locally as "Byoo-na Vista"
Buena Vista has a semi-arid climate (according to Köppen climate classification), with cold winters, along with an average annual snowfall of approximately 45 inches, and warm, but wetter summers, with average rainfall from June to August generally around 4 to 5 inches.
