The Town of Buena Vista is in Chaffee County, Colorado. The town population was 2,855 at the 2020 U.S. Census and it's elevation is 7,965 ft (2,428 m). The name "Buena Vista", is Spanish for "Beautiful View", and it can often be heard pronounced locally as "Byoo-na Vista"

Mount Princeton is a high mountain summit (14,204 feet) of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The fourteener is located in San Isabel National Forest. The nearby hot springs are between the ghost town of St Elmo, and Nathrop, Colorado, on Country Rd 162. The town of Nathrop is 7.8 miles southwest of Buena Vista.
