Review

This album is not so much a greatest hits album, but a true compilation of Smokey Robinson's songs throughout his entire career, both with the Miracles and his solo stuff. In fact, there are two brand new songs released on this CD, the opening title cut "My World", with it's great solid grove, and then the album's following song, "Fallin'", both top notched tunes and you can clearly hear that Smokey still has that great voice, he hasn't lose anything in his strong and wonderful vocals after all of these years!

There are 19 more enjoyable songs on this double album, although some of his earliest songs and hits are not to be found on here. The oldest song does date back to 1962 - "You Really Got A Hold On Me" and is one of the best of the bunch, a song the Beatles would cover the following year.

The one song that just about all music fans know, and is also the Miracles most famous song, "Tears Of A Clown", is on here too, Robinson co-wrote this gem with Stevie Wonder. Other great songs include my all-time favorite Miracles tune, "I Second That Emotion", the big hit "Shop Around", and "Going To A Go-Go", which also was a hit for the group.

Smokey wrote 18 of the 21 songs found on this album, he really is one of the top R & B writers ever. But it always was that special voice of his that makes you listen just a bit closer to his songs, and why the Miracles were a such a huge hit in their day. If you love the sound of Smokey's voice, then your gonna dig this album a lot!
