KENO.ORG

PLEASE BOYCOTT AMAZON.COM!!!!

March 8, 2010

Amazon.com has finally gone too far in their mistreatment of their Associates! This time they went and pulled the plug on all affiliate accounts in the State of Colorado! Yes, that's right, after putting up with these jackasses since 1998 with their unfair business practices towards affiliates, they dropped keno.org and all the other Amazon Associates in the State over something we really had no control over! Plus they did so without any advance notice - they just closed down our accounts, just like that!

I thank all of you who have supported this domain by purchasing items from Amazon.com through our links to them, but please, do not purchase from them anymore. Yes, I (Keno) ask you to please boycott Amazon.com. What they have done to their Colorado Associates, they also have done to Associates in at least 3 other states, with a couple more states on their list of who they will hit next.

Why did Amazon.com drop us? Because of the passage of Colorado State legislation, known as HB 10-1193. This bill deals with the collection of Colorado sales tax online, and as it was, I myself was personally against this bill. Still, Amazon acted unprofessionally in how they handle their Colorado affiliates in regard to this. They basically treated us like dirt, closed down our accounts, and kicked us out - with no warning at all!

Keno.org had been a affiliate of theirs since 1998, and I as the owner of this domain, relied on the commissions I made off of sales from their affiliate program, even if the commission that they pay their affiliates is ridiculously too low. But damn, their products did sell well, regardless, and that was why I put up with them.

Shame on Amazon.com for this mistreatment of Coloradans! They noted in their email to us that (and this comes directly from their email notice of our accounts being closed down):

"Regrettably, as a result of the new law, we have decided to stop advertising through Associates based in Colorado. We plan to continue to sell to Colorado residents, however, and will advertise through other channels, including through Associates based in other states."

So in other words, they still want to make money off of the people of Colorado, they just don't want to allow the citizens of our State to be able to make any income from them off of the sales they make off of us. Unreal!

So I ask you, no matter what state or country you live in, to please Boycott Amazon.com! Please dont let them get away with this, your state or country could be next!
